San Diego's own Gilbert Castellanos, one of the country’s top-call jazz trumpeters, is a renowned musician, composer and arranger known for moving listeners on a deeply emotional level with music that sounds effortless.

Hear Castellanos and a stellar roster of collaborators as they open San Diego Symphony's 2025-26 "Jazz @ The Jacobs" concert series with a performance of the music from of John Coltrane's legendary 1957 album, Blue Train. Frequently cited as one of the greatest jazz albums ever recorded, the music strikes a rare balance — it’s intellectually intricate but emotionally direct, and it's essential listening for anyone exploring mid-century jazz.

Each Jazz @ The Jacobs concert features a pre-show performance by the Young Lions Jazz Conservatory All-Stars at 6:30pm!
